A global pandemic, food shortages, natural disasters, an economic crisis, and social unrest have unfolded over the past few months, making 2020 a year of chaos and uncertainty. Living through these times, without a doubt, has created an unprecedented amount of stress and unhappiness. To make matters worse, there is no telling when things will calm down and start to return to normal (or some version of normal).
There is nothing you can do to control or change what’s going on right now, but allowing yourself to remain wrapped up in the negativity can significantly impact you and your family’s health, happiness, and overall quality of life. Too much stress and anxiety can eventually lead to physical, emotional, personal, and professional problems that ultimately create a vicious cycle that can be challenging to climb out of.
Though the world is a very different place right now, you don’t have to allow it to control your emotions, health, or life. You can use this time to focus on things that will enhance your health, happiness, and overall well-being.
Spend Quality Time With Family
Yes, the pressure of dealing with a full house during the pandemic can be stressful, but it also provides you with more time to cherish with those you love. Improve your physical, emotional, social, and relational health by devoting some quality time to your family. Go on nature walks together, spend time at the park, have an intimate backyard picnic or barbecue, work on creative projects, watch your favorite movies, go camping, or simply share a meaningful conversation during meal times.
Get Your House In Order
You have spent a lot more time at home these days as you try to protect yourself and your family from contracting the coronavirus. Chances are things are a bit unorganized and all over the place as you dedicate more time to tending to the needs of your family than household chores. Disorganization, however, only adds to your stress and anxiety. Reduce tension and elevate your mood by getting your house in order. Create a plan to get rid of junk, organize your belongings, clean and sanitize from top to bottom, and perhaps update the decor and layout for improved functionality and comfort. You may even want to consider adding some nature decor to brighten the mood in your home.
Go Back to School
Working a full-time job and supporting a family often gets in the way of any plans you may have had for yourself. Maybe you have always wanted to go back to school to obtain a degree and pursue a new career path, but you simply did not have the time. Now that you are home more often, you can use this time to further your education. Keeping safety in mind, you can enroll in programs like this one for an MBA in San Diego, where you can choose online learning. This gives you something positive to focus your energy on while also allowing you to elevate personally and professionally. You will also serve as a positive role model to your children as they are also working online, showing them the importance of lifelong learning.
Start a Business
Whether you are stressed about finances or you have always had the desire to be your boss, now is an excellent time to start the process of starting your own business on your own terms. You can find many options that best match your educational and professional experience that can take shape with little to no money. As you grow your business, you will find that you feel more confident, financially secure, and at ease during these uncertain times.
Passion Projects
If you would like to elevate your health, happiness, and life amid a pandemic, try volunteering your time or starting a passion project. This is a project or cause that speaks to something near and dear to your heart. You can start a blog to assist parents during the pandemic, create a virtual program for young learners, or get involved with an established charity or non-profit. The time you spend helping others can make you forget about your problems and enhance your well-being. Even better, get your kids involved to make it a special way for you and your kids to bond while doing good in the world.
How are you elevating your family’s wellness during these uncertain times?
Couldn’t agree more! There’s still a lot of things everyone could (and should) do. This is the perfect time to find (a new) passion, start exiting new projects or finally finish old ones, possibilitys for selvdevelopment and to spend time on necessary things that otherwise get too little attention.
These are wonderful ideas! I have truly loved all of the extra family time 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
Go Back to School and Passion Projects, really think I’d hit these two lol. Yes we need to look after our happiness more than before. Thanks.
these are fantastic tips.
spending time with your family and getting your house in order are the absolute favs of mine!

Great post. This pandemic brought everyone together. Stay Safe and Healthy.
These are great tips! I have been spending time with my family, started taking online classes, decluttered, and am volunteering! They all have been great for my mental health. So I know these work! I also love meditation, reading, yoga, and exercising.
2020 is certainly the year of the unknown! Focusing on the positive is absolutely the best way to get through the craziness! Thanks so much for sharing!
Excellent tips for helping to improve and maintain out health. I especially like that you recommend passion projects.
Love these suggestions! I think people were feeling super down and out at the beginning of this pandemic and are now starting to settle into this new reality. Personally, I’ve used these past few months to work on self growth and self care. I’ve started my passion project and have spent more quality time with my family.
For me the key is to carve out quality time with my family. It is so easy to rush around with all the need to dos ( work, house cleaning, laundry etc). Everyone feels happier when some interactions are more intentional each day.
I agree. One should really prioritize health and happiness during these troubling times. While not exactly a business, I did start a side hustle of selling my clutter online. And also I’ve been spending this time growing my blog – that’s my passion project.
Finding at least one thing to focus your attention I feel like has been so essential during quarantine. Whether it’s starting a blog or going back to school, just having a separate avenue to express yourself can do wonders for taking your mind off of the negativity
I agree with you! These tips will lead to far greater happiness than sitting around watching or reading the news all day. That totally stresses me out but working on my house and business is much more enjoyable.
Agreed..take advantage of the extra time to get things done that normally wouldn’t..love this

These are awesome and timely ideas. I took this time to really get to know my family and I was amazed at the wonderful brilliant young minds called my children. The pandemic came with a positive side for me, more time with my loved ones.
