The most important lesson about gratitude for all of us to cherish and to pass along to our children is how important it is to be thankful every single day. Thanksgiving is truly a gift that should keep on giving all year long.
This was a tough month filled with loss in my community and all over the world. These events are a reminder that every moment we have on this Earth is a special, miraculous blink of an eye. Teaching our children the ability to soak it all in and to be grateful for big things (like good health) to little things (like scrumptious gooey marshmallows melted in hot chocolate) is one of the best tools for them to stay happy and peaceful.
I reviewed The Thankful Book by Todd Parr this month because it provides a playful, yet meaningful, example to children about what they can be thankful for. Some of his thankful notes are silly, some are routine, and some touch your heart. Please enjoy the review and let us know what you think.
