Welcome to your toolkit for raising happy, balanced children. I am so excited to share tips, resources, and activities from the world of happiness science to help you teach your children how to live joyful, fulfilled, and peaceful lives.
It’s a tough world out there and our children need our guidance. Through my own battle with stress and anxiety, I have found ways to get back to a balanced state of mind, body, and spirit. This is a life-long project and there is always something new to learn.
Turning Lemons Into Lemonade
If we look closely enough, challenging times have a teachable moment. I did not grow up learning how to effectively handle stress in my life. It was no fun being stuck in the anxiety quicksand. I want to give my children—all children—the ability to turn to some simple tools when they feel uneasy. The last thing I want is for them to struggle like I did. Additionally, I truly believe that happy, balanced people do not hurt others. If more people utilize these happiness tools, our world will be safer and more peaceful.
Where It All Began
My happiness science journey began after I read Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project. This book inspired me to continue learning about happiness, and to put all of the wisdom I collect to good use in my own life. I then completed University of California Berkeley’s Science of Happiness course. I am now so intrigued by all things happiness, and am hooked to learning as much as possible about how we can all feel better so we can enjoy our lives to the fullest.
We All Need a Toolkit
I know that so many parents crave the tools to help their children live happier lives, so I am here to bring it all together in a simple, convenient way. Each month I will highlight one of the areas in our toolkit, such as mindfulness, giving, optimism, loving kindness, or gratitude.
Please join me on this journey as we make new discoveries together. I welcome your questions and comments along the way. Through knowledge and a constructive exchange of ideas, we can lead the next generation in making the world a better place.
